Curriculum policy

In Department of Biotechnology and Life Science, we provide practical engineering education through a unique curriculum based on biochemistry, molecular biology, and medical engineering, enabling students to learn biotechnology efficiently and systematically.

In the first and second years, students take specialized foundational subjects. In order to acquire basic knowledge of life phenomena, students learn comprehensive scientific knowledge including chemistry, biology, physics, and engineering knowledge, with the aim of understanding life phenomena at the molecular level in particular. Students also aim to acquire practical skills through student experiments that are offered from the first year. From the second semester of the second year, specialized subjects are offered to acquire advanced and up-to-date knowledge. In parallel with these subjects, students take biotechnology experiments (student training) based on a consistent program throughout the second and third years. From basic experiments to advanced experiments using the latest equipment, students will deepen their understanding of the knowledge they have acquired in lectures while mastering practical skills.

In the third year, following the English literacy subjects in the first and second years, students undergo practical training in English taught by foreign language Faculty Member, aiming to acquire practical language skills that can be used internationally. Specialized subjects include those directly related to "medical equipment and materials," "food and medicine," and "environment and energy," as well as subjects such as bioethics and safety management, and in the second semester they are assigned to a research lab to gain a foundation for working on cutting-edge research.

In the fourth year, students are assigned to a laboratory where they set a theme for their graduation research and conduct cutting-edge research under the direct guidance of Supervisor.

In addition, experiments and practical training are scheduled throughout the second and third years. From the second semester of the third year, students are assigned to a research lab, where they set the topic of their graduation thesis and conduct cutting-edge research.

Diploma policy

  1. Students must have mastered the basics of fields related to "bioengineering" (mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, medical engineering, information science), which is a comprehensive engineering field based on the behavior of molecules.

  2. In addition to acquiring specialized knowledge in biotechnology, students must have the ability to logically respond to cutting-edge fields based on basic knowledge.

  3. Understand the social needs required of biotechnology, acquire problem setting, problem-solving and research and development skills for sustainable social development, and acquire the ability to learn independently and continuously. .

  4. As an engineer or researcher, you must understand the significance of biotechnology research from an ethical, social, and global perspective that goes beyond science and technology, and have the ability to communicate and discuss the latest technical information domestically and internationally, as well as with others. Must have the ability to collaborate with others.

Admission policy

  1. Those who have a strong interest in the cutting-edge biotechnology field and are motivated to play an active role as a researcher or professional engineer while responding to the needs of society.

  2. Those who have sufficient academic ability in science subjects such as biology, chemistry, and physics, as well as basic subjects such as mathematics, English, and Japanese.
